A holding company for World Liberty Financial's (WLFI) banking business has been acquired by UAE investors, who now hold 49% of the stake. The Trump family-linked firm owns another 38%. WLTC Holdings is a bank holding company created by WLFI to manage its banking operations.

According to WSJ, an entity linked to Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan holds the UAE investors' stake through StringZ Holding RSC. This entity was registered in Abu Dhabi and Delaware in April 2025. Tahnoun serves as the United Arab Emirates' national security adviser and is the brother of the country's president, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The OCC granted preliminary approval to WLFI's application to launch a national trust bank in August. The bank will handle USD1 operations and provide crypto asset custody services for clients.
