UAE Migrates National Digital Identity Vault to Avalanche Blockchain
The UAE government has successfully migrated its national digital identity vault, UAEPASS, to the Avalanche blockchain. The move is aimed at upgrading the technical core of the platform and providing a more secure and efficient way for citizens, residents, and visitors to verify their identities.
UAEPASS serves as the country's central citizen authentication hub, allowing users to complete official procedures, sign legal documents, and access banking platforms. The platform has registered 12.5 million active users and is used by over 15,000 integrated services and more than 350 public and private entities.
The migration was carried out on a dedicated Avalanche L1 subnet, which allows the government to retain control over permissions, membership, and network configurations without competing for public bandwidth. This technical design ensures that institutional transactions do not suffer from congestion stemming from general public network traffic.
