UAE Regulators Unite on Commercial Gaming Oversight
The UAE has strengthened its commercial gaming framework with a new cooperation agreement between the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) and the Abu Dhabi Global Market Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA).
The pact, signed on August 14, 2026, covers information sharing, investigations, and supervision where gaming and financial regulation overlap.
GCGRA oversees commercial gaming nationwide, while FSRA regulates financial services within Abu Dhabi Global Market. The agreement formalizes a channel for exchanging information and assisting each other when their responsibilities cross.
Ciarán Carruthers, GCGRA CEO, said that the credibility of commercial gaming in the UAE will be built through cooperation like this one.
The Wynn Al Marjan Island project is the only confirmed licensed land-based casino project in the UAE and is expected to open in September 2027. Wynn Resorts invested $1.06 billion into its development joint venture by the end of June 2026.
