UAE Sovereign Funds Maintain Big Bitcoin Stakes
The Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth funds have maintained significant positions in Bitcoin, according to recent regulatory filings. Mubadala Investment Company revealed that it held a $490 million stake in BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust, which is its second-largest single holding across its entire portfolio.
The Abu Dhabi Investment Council also disclosed a $273.6 million position in the popular Bitcoin exchange-traded fund, making it the biggest position in its portfolio. Both funds' positions in Bitcoin remain unchanged since last quarter.
Notably, these holdings stem primarily from domestic mining activity rather than confiscated assets. In contrast to other countries like the United States, which hold large amounts of Bitcoin largely originated from law enforcement seizures.
