UAE Upgrades Digital Identity Platform on Avalanche Blockchain

The UAE has upgraded its digital identity platform, UAEPASS, which serves over 12.5 million citizens. The upgrade uses Avalanche's dedicated layer 1 blockchain to enhance scalability, reliability, and performance.

The new system handles only UAE-related traffic on a private network, avoiding congestion from public blockchains. This move is overseen by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), ensuring accountability and secure management.

This upgrade follows similar blockchain adoption by California DMV and highlights Avalanche's growing role in government digital services.
