UBS Ramps Up Bitcoin ETF Call Options Exposure

UBS, Switzerland's largest bank, has significantly increased its exposure to Bitcoin-linked derivatives. In its latest 13F filing, UBS disclosed a 24-fold expansion of its Bitcoin ETF call options holdings over just one quarter.

This move represents a significant institutional wager on Bitcoin upside without direct ownership of the underlying asset. By purchasing call options tied to Bitcoin ETFs, UBS gains leveraged exposure with a defined maximum loss.

The structure allows the bank to participate in price appreciation scenarios while avoiding security, compliance, and infrastructure burdens associated with holding digital assets on its balance sheet.

This increase joins a growing list of institutional disclosures involving Bitcoin ETF products. Other notable players include JPMorgan, Harvard University's endowment, Abu Dhabi's Mubadala, and Avenir.
