UK Crime Agency Freezes $13.6M in Premier League Bank Account
The UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) has frozen $13.6 million in a Premier League bank account, citing potential links to alleged third-party criminality.
The funds were part of a reported $163 million sponsorship deal between the Premier League and Sorare, a crypto fantasy soccer card game backed by investors including Lionel Messi.
Sorare faces a separate prosecution from the UK Gambling Commission for allegedly providing gambling facilities without an operating licence under the Gambling Act 2005.
