UK Cryptocurrency Millionaires Surpass 240 Amid Rising Tax Scrutiny
The UK government has reported that there are now over 240 millionaires in the country who have made more than $1.4 million from cryptocurrency investments in the 2024-2025 tax year.
This number is part of a larger group of 17,600 people who reported digital asset gains during this period, with a combined total of $1.9 billion.
The UK's HM Revenue and Customs agency has released data showing that these individuals declared over $975 million in capital gains tied to cryptocurrency, with many more disposing of assets worth a total of $18.7 billion.
Financial Secretary James Murray emphasized the importance of paying taxes on cryptoasset gains, citing the OECD's Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework which estimates that global taxable onchain activity reached $457 billion in 2025.
