UK Rises to Third in Global Bitcoin Adoption Despite Can't-Hold-Reserve Rule
The UK has climbed to third place in global Bitcoin adoption according to the JAN3 Bitcoin index's 2025 B20 rankings.
The rankings take into account various factors, including national Bitcoin holdings, state mining, legal and tax treatment, strategic-reserve policy, pro-Bitcoin political leadership, and the extent to which Bitcoin can be used in the economy.
The UK scored 6.44 out of a possible score, earning it a BB rating behind the United States at 7.42 and Bhutan at 6.64.
One reason for the UK's high ranking is its holding of over 60,000 BTC in law-enforcement custody, though this cannot be counted as part of a government reserve.
