UK Tax Authority Reveals Record Number of Crypto Millionaires

The UK tax authority, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC), has released its first official breakdown of cryptocurrency gains, showing that 240 people declared over £1 million ($1.35 million) in cryptoasset gains for the 2024 to 2025 tax year.

These individuals reported a total of £717 million ($974 million) in crypto gains, accounting for just over half of all crypto gains declared to HMRC that year.

The wider pool of filers consisted of 17,600 people who made cryptocurrency disposals liable for Capital Gains Tax (CGT), with a total disposal value of £13.8 billion ($18.8 billion).

Men accounted for about 87% of filers, while women made up around 13%. The average gain per filer was approximately £78,000.
