Ukraine Cracks Down on Crypto Fraud Ring Targeting EU Citizens
A Ukrainian crypto fraud network that targeted EU citizens has been dismantled by authorities.
The group, led by a 25-year-old IT specialist, posed as representatives of cryptocurrency platforms and lured victims with supposedly profitable investment opportunities promoted through Telegram channels.
Victims were shown fictitious trading results before being directed to fake websites designed to mimic legitimate crypto services. The sites contained malicious 'drainer' code that enabled unauthorized withdrawals once users connected their wallets and approved transactions.
The network's monthly turnover peaked at $1 million, with authorities seizing phones, computer equipment, cash believed to be criminal proceeds, and 16 luxury cars during the investigation.
