$UNI Eyes 12% Rally as Uniswap Launches Permissioned Pools for Regulated Assets
Decentralized exchange Uniswap has taken a significant step towards advancing its tokenization push by launching permissioned pools. The new feature, available on Uniswap V4 in partnership with Securitize, Superstate, and Dowgo, will allow for regulated assets to be traded on-chain.
The move is aimed at bringing 'regulated assets onchain,' according to Uniswap CEO Hayden Adams. This is achieved through restricting swaps and liquidity linked to tokenized stocks and ETFs to an allowlist of approved wallets.
Uniswap's bet on the $11T tokenized market boom could pay off, as the current market value of $36B is expected to hit $11 trillion in the next four years. The SEC applies a technology-neutral stance on tokenized securities, meaning traditional disclosure requirements and monitoring will apply in the onchain market too.
Permissioned pools are one way DeFi players like Uniswap seek to ride the tokenization boom while remaining compliant with regulations. If Uniswap captures a fraction of the expected tokenization boom, it could drive more volume and revenue for the protocol.
