UNI Whale Withdrawals Surge on Binance Amid Fee Expansion

Large holders of Uniswap's (UNI) governance token are pulling tokens off Binance at an unprecedented pace, according to CryptoQuant. The ten largest daily withdrawals averaged over 7,200 UNI in July, marking a five-year high for monthly outflows tied to the token.

This trend mirrors similar Bitcoin whale buying seen earlier this month, where large holders added coins during a dip instead of chasing a rally. However, UNI's setup differs because it still trades more than 91% below its all-time high of $44.92, set on May 3, 2021.

The expansion of Uniswap's fee and burn mechanism to version 4 (v4) pools and Robinhood Chain has likely contributed to the surge in whale activity. New addresses interacting with Uniswap roughly doubled to 582 in the days around the rally, and whale transactions above $100,000 climbed to 142 on July 30 alone.

Historically, exchange outflows have signaled reduced sell pressure heading into a recovery. Whether this outflow pace holds beyond August depends on measurable burn volume from the fee expansion.
