Unicoin Sues Uniswap Over 'UNI' Trademark Registration
Unicoin, a company behind the Unicoin brand, has filed a lawsuit in the Southern District of New York against Uniswap Labs. The suit seeks to cancel Uniswap's US trademark registration for 'UNI' and declares that Unicoin's use of its UNICOIN mark does not infringe or dilute Uniswap's claimed marks.
The dispute centers on trademark claims made by Uniswap in three demand letters sent between June 3 and August 14. The letters accused Unicoin of trademark infringement, dilution, cybersquatting, and unfair competition.
Unicoin is also challenging claims tied to its 'unicoin.com' and 'unicoin.org' domains under the federal Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act. The lawsuit was filed just weeks before Unicoin's listed September 28 public launch date for its UNCN token.
