UniCredit Eyes Crypto Custody Services Amid Digital Asset Expansion
UniCredit, one of Europe's leading banks, is exploring the launch of crypto custody and brokerage services. The bank has reportedly begun identifying a technology partner to safeguard digital assets and execute customer transactions.
UniCredit currently serves over 20 million customers across Italy, Germany, Austria, and Central and Eastern Europe, managing $34 billion in assets under management (AUM).
The institution has already ventured into the cryptocurrency space, introducing a Bitcoin-linked investment certificate in July 2025. This product offers complete capital protection and an 85% maximum return for professional investors in Italy.
UniCredit also facilitated Italy's first tokenized minibond on public blockchain infrastructure in December 2025, structuring a €5 million bond issuance for E4 Computer Engineering on the Polygon network.
