UniCredit Seeks Infrastructure Partner for Digital Asset Expansion
UniCredit Bank is exploring ways to expand its digital asset offerings by seeking out an infrastructure partner. The Italian bank wants to establish a platform for trading, custody, and access to tokenized investment products.
The areas of interest include crypto custody and brokerage capabilities, tokenized investment products, and stablecoin-based fixed-income securities. This comes as several major banks are experimenting with digital asset infrastructure, including U.S. Bank's recent live cross-border payment using its proprietary USBDC stablecoin.
UniCredit has not commented on which technology provider it is considering for this partnership. Other banks, such as Standard Chartered and Leumi, have also been exploring digital assets, with some launching custody services and trading platforms for institutional clients.
