UniCredit Seeks Partner to Build Digital Asset Infrastructure
Italian bank UniCredit is searching for an infrastructure partner to help it build out its capabilities in digital asset trading, custody, and tokenized investment products. According to people familiar with the matter, the bank's discussions are still in their early stages.
The areas of interest include crypto custody and brokerage capabilities, as well as access to tokenized investment products and stablecoin-based fixed-income securities.
This move is part of a broader trend among major banks, which are increasingly experimenting with digital asset infrastructure. For example, U.S. Bank recently completed a live cross-border payment using its proprietary USBDC stablecoin.
