Uniswap Activates V4 Protocol Fees, Redirecting Trading Fees to Buybacks
Uniswap (UNI) has activated v4 protocol fees across seven blockchains, redirecting additional trading fees to UNI buybacks and token burns. This change aims to support token value without significantly impacting platform liquidity.
The new fee is separate from liquidity provider rewards and was approved by Uniswap governance after a proposal backed by 46.6 million UNI tokens. Founder Hayden Adams clarified that this protocol fee is additive to existing liquidity provider rewards, addressing initial concerns from some LPs over reduced earnings.
UNI trades above its key short- and medium-term moving averages, indicating strong bullish momentum and high intraday volatility. The price is expected to fluctuate within a $4.17 to $4.4143 range over the next few days, with traders advised to monitor for a break above resistance as the next potential catalyst for upside.
Uniswap governance has implemented this change in response to growing demand and ecosystem expansion. The current technical strength and implementation of v4 protocol fees further strengthen the outlook, but caution is warranted due to overbought signals from momentum indicators.
