Uniswap Fee Switch Sparks FUD and Concern Over Impact on Liquidity Providers

Uniswap's V4 protocol fee switch has been met with strong opposition from some liquidity providers (LPs) and leaders from rival DEX Aerodrome.

However, Uniswap CEO Hayden Adams dismissed the criticism as 'FUD' (fear, uncertainty, and doubt), claiming that fees collected by LPs are not subtracted but rather addictive, leaving their revenue intact.

KoolKrypto, one of the critics, disagreed with Adams' argument, stating that Uniswap's fee switch is a 'tragedy of poor governance design.' He warned that if LPs migrate to other DEXs, volumes and Uniswap's revenue will drop, affecting its buyback program.

Curve Finance founder Michael Egorov echoed KoolKrypto's concerns, saying that increasing fees would lead to higher spreads, decreased volumes, and less revenue for LPs. He also noted that Aerodrome's proposed solution of rewarding LPs with more AERO tokens would dilute the token's value.
