Uniswap Introduces Permissioned Pools for Regulated Assets
Uniswap Labs has introduced Permissioned Pools, a new standard designed to enable regulated assets on its decentralized exchange. This move allows tokenized funds and equities to operate within Uniswap's protocol while maintaining investor compliance controls.
The mechanism integrates eligibility checks directly into liquidity pools, verifying whether a wallet meets the issuer-specified requirements before executing trades or adding liquidity. This aims to resolve a key tension in tokenized finance: enabling access to decentralized markets without removing regulatory obligations associated with traditional securities.
Initial launch partners include Securitize, Superstate, and Dowgo, at a time when major asset managers are exploring the tokenization of financial products. Companies like BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, and VanEck have already launched tokenized funds, while Citi estimates that tokenized securities could reach a $5.5 trillion market by 2030.
