Uniswap Price Surges on Record Burns and Whale Accumulation
Uniswap's (UNI) recent price surge of 7.28% over the last 36 hours can be attributed to several factors, including record-breaking protocol revenues, high-profile accumulation by whales, and a strong technical breakout.
The 'fee switch' implemented on Uniswap has resulted in record daily burns, with the token burning 184,000 UNI worth approximately $1.15 million in a single day. This represents one of the largest burns since the fee switch was activated and has significantly contributed to the token's valuation.
Arthur Hayes, former BitMEX CEO, has been reported to have purchased over $2 million worth of UNI, accumulating around 284,000 UNI. Other large wallets have also increased their UNI holdings, with some taking modest profits.
The technical breakout is supported by a strong price structure and sector rotation, with Uniswap's 20-day moving average far below the current spot price. The token has already more than doubled from $3.20 in mid-August to around $6.25-$7.00, breaking through several resistance zones.
Bitwise CIO Matt Hougan publicly argued that UNI is significantly undervalued, citing an approximate $5 billion valuation versus protocol fee burn in the $120-130 million annual range. This validates the re-rating of Uniswap and supports the token's continued growth.
