Uniswap Pushes Boundaries With Permissioned Pools for Regulated Assets

Uniswap Labs is introducing Permissioned Pools to its platform, allowing regulated securities and tokenized assets to trade without sacrificing compliance requirements. This new feature will enable issuers of these assets to restrict trading to approved investors while still using Uniswap's automated market maker.

The launch partners for this initiative include Securitize, Superstate, and Dowgo, all of which plan to use the framework for regulated on-chain assets. This move is part of a broader shift in decentralized finance (DeFi), where protocols are adapting to accommodate traditional financial institutions bringing real-world assets onto blockchain rails.

The potential opportunity is significant, with global asset managers launching tokenized funds and brokerages expanding tokenized stock offerings. A recent report by Citi projected that tokenized securities will grow into a $5.5 trillion market by 2030.
