Uniswap Surges into Primary Price Discovery Amid 340,000 Token Launches
The number of tokens launched on Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains has reached an astonishing 340,000, according to industry estimates. This surge in token launches is pushing Uniswap into a new role: primary price discovery.
Uniswap's Continuous Clearing Auctions (CCAs) are now being used to set on-chain clearing prices and seed v4 pools at that level. This is a significant shift in the exchange's role, as it moves from passive price discovery to actively participating in the launch process.
The scale of token launches can be seen in data from Pons, which tracks over 66,000 completed launches with around $380 million in cumulative trading volume as of July 20, 2026. This highlights the challenge of identifying successful tokens and warns investors to approach early participation with caution.
