Uniswap Surges to Record 28.9 Million Weekly Swaps Amid Market Volatility
Uniswap, the largest decentralized exchange (DEX) by trading volume, has reached a new milestone. The platform recorded 28.9 million swaps last week, surpassing its previous record set in late 2024. This surge in activity underscores growing user adoption of automated market makers (AMMs) and on-chain trading.
The increase in swap volumes is driven by heightened volatility in the crypto market, with major assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum experiencing sharp price swings. Uniswap's role as a primary liquidity venue for thousands of tokens has made it a bellwether for decentralized finance (DeFi) activity.
Data from Dune Analytics shows that the surge was driven by increased trading in mid-cap and long-tail tokens, as well as stablecoin pairs. The number of unique active wallets also rose to a multi-month high, indicating broader participation rather than just a few large traders.
The record volume translates into increased fee revenue for liquidity providers (LPs), who receive a 0.3% fee on each swap (or lower for certain pools). This could provide a meaningful yield boost for those providing liquidity in high-traffic pools.
