Uniswap UNI Surges as Robinhood Chain Injects Fresh Volume and Revenue
Uniswap's UNI has surged by over 60% in recent weeks due to a significant catalyst: the launch of Robinhood Chain, a new Layer 2 network built on Arbitrum technology. The protocol's fresh volume on the chain has been substantial, with Uniswap Labs reporting that its deployments had crossed $1 billion in cumulative swap volume by July 10. This activity has translated into real revenue for Uniswap, with liquidity providers earning $18 million in fees since the mainnet launch on July 1.
The integration of Robinhood Chain and Uniswap has been a game-changer for UNI, providing a concrete link between the token's value and actual usage. The protocol's governance has also taken steps to turn this activity into UNI burns through the fee mechanism.
While the early volume on Robinhood Chain was largely driven by memecoin trading, with CASHCAT jumping 2,158% in seven days, Uniswap Labs is optimistic about the chain's potential. The team has rolled out a v4 framework allowing regulated funds and securities to trade through Uniswap while enforcing issuer allowlists.
