Uniswap Unleashes Dynamic Fee System to Shake Up Stablecoin Market

Uniswap has launched its third official Hook, StablePair Hook, which aims to disrupt the stablecoin trading market. This mechanism is an upgradeable dynamic fee system that adjusts fees in real-time based on price deviations.

The problem with traditional automated market makers (AMMs) is that they rely heavily on liquidity providers (LPs), who are essentially acting as ATMs for arbitrage bots. Arbitrageurs pocket the entire spread, leaving LPs with a fixed fee and thin profits.

StablePair Hook addresses this issue by introducing a three-speed smart engine. In the first gear, prices are fixed within a narrow range, ensuring predictable quotes for ordinary traders. In the second gear, directional pricing kicks in, where fees are zero if trades push prices further away from the reference price.

The third and most critical part of the mechanism is the Dutch auction, which initiates when someone wants to 'correct' the price back to the reference price. The fee rate starts high and gradually decreases until an arbitrageur decides the profit margin is large enough to step in.
