Uniswap v4 Launches Permissioned Pools for Regulated Tokenized Assets
Uniswap Labs has launched Permissioned Pools on its v4 platform, allowing regulated tokenized assets to trade through automated market makers (AMMs) while maintaining issuer-controlled compliance rules.
The framework uses smart contract hooks to restrict swaps and liquidity access to approved wallets only. This is made possible by the integration of issuers' allowlists with Uniswap's PoolManager, which handles a wrapped version of the asset inside the pool.
Approved users receive the underlying permissioned asset after completing a transaction. The system also includes safeguards such as preventing restricted tokens from moving freely through standard pool routes and limiting liquidity-position NFT transfers.
Liquidity suppliers can still withdraw their funds after losing permission, but issuers have significant operational authority to pause swaps, update compliance systems, or force-close positions when necessary.
