Uniswap V4 Upgrade Sparks Record Growth and Revenue
Uniswap continues to dominate as the largest decentralized exchange in crypto. The protocol's recent upgrade, Uniswap V4, has led to significant growth and increased revenue. According to DefiLlama, Uniswap generated $99.06 million in fees over the past 30 days, placing it among the highest revenue-generating crypto projects.
This milestone marks a new high for Uniswap's lifetime protocol fees, which now total $5.72 billion. The V4 upgrade introduced a new revenue model that allows a portion of protocol fees to be directed toward buying and burning UNI tokens, reducing circulating supply over time and giving the token a more direct connection to the protocol's growing revenue.
The market reacted quickly to the upgrade, with UNI prices climbing nearly 19% between July 29 and July 31. While prices cooled slightly after that, blockchain data suggests network activity remained elevated. New wallet addresses jumped nearly double the typical daily range, and whale transactions above $100,000 climbed to one of the busiest large-holder activity days of the month.
