Uniswap's Permissioned Pools Unleash Regulated Assets onto DeFi Markets
Uniswap Labs has launched Permissioned Pools on its v4 protocol, marking an aggressive move into regulated securities markets. This feature allows issuers of tokenized funds and equities to enforce compliance checks directly on the blockchain.
The new pools use Uniswap's 'hooks' architecture, which lets developers attach custom logic to pool operations without altering the core protocol. Regulated tokens are kept in a separate contract with permissions, while the pool leverages v4’s new accounting setup for trading.
Lauded as a fundamental plumbing fix for the industry by Superstate CEO Robert Leshner, Permissioned Pools move compliance rules into the pool itself. This allows regulated assets to tap real AMM liquidity without issuers giving up control over investor access.
