Unitree Robotics' Crypto Futures Surge to $40B Valuation Ahead of IPO
Unitree Robotics' stock debut on the Shanghai Stock Exchange's Star Market was surrounded by a frenzy of interest from both traditional investors and those in the crypto market. While the company's official IPO price was set at $22.37 per share, with a total valuation of approximately $9 billion, the perpetual futures contracts tied to Unitree were trading at significantly higher levels on the Hyperliquid blockchain.
The Bloomberg report stated that these contracts were changing hands at around $100 the day before the debut, implying a valuation of over $40.5 billion for Unitree, more than four times its official IPO price. This surge in the crypto derivatives market has sparked interest and debate among traders and analysts.
Some experts point to the growing credibility of these pre-IPO perpetual futures as a price-discovery tool, citing their accuracy in predicting stock performance ahead of traditional listings. However, others warn that this volatility can also pose significant risks for investors, particularly those with leveraged positions.
