Unregulated DeFi Exchange Losses Prompt Connecticut Alert
Connecticut's Attorney General William Tong issued an alert after a resident lost $200,000 to an unregulated DeFi exchange. The exchange was deceived by someone claiming to know them.
The state's warning highlights financial losses, high-risk leverage, security threats, and limited avenues for recovering funds from these platforms.
Tong emphasized that 'This isn't innovation, it's exploitation.' He urged investors to do research before handing over money and know what protections are in place if things go wrong.
The alert named seven offshore DeFi platforms that officials said operate beyond U.S. regulatory protections: GMX, Gains Network, dYdX, Aevo, Drift Protocol, Vertex Protocol, and Hyperliquid.
