Upbit and Bithumb List New Tokens as South Korean Exchanges Fuel Competition
South Korea's two largest cryptocurrency exchanges, Upbit and Bithumb, announced new listings on August 4, 2026. Upbit added DeFi App's (HOME) governance and utility token to its KRW and USDT markets.
The listing on Upbit marks HOME's first direct addition to the exchange. Deposits and withdrawals are supported through Base, an Ethereum layer-2 network designed for faster and cheaper transactions.
Meanwhile, Bithumb listed two tokens: MetaDAO (META2) and Global Dollar (USDG). META2 is a DAO governance token built on prediction markets, while USDG is a regulated dollar stablecoin pegged to the US dollar at 1:1. The exchange initially planned to open trading for both tokens at 4:00 PM KST but later revised it to 7:00 PM due to liquidity conditions.
HOME and META2 saw significant price gains following the listings, rising by 40% and 28.44%, respectively. In contrast, USDG remained stable near its $1 peg, as expected for a reserve-backed asset.
