Upbit Delists Bonk Inu Over Security and Compliance Concerns
South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Upbit has announced that it will delist Bonk Inu (BONK), citing unresolved security and compliance issues. The decision is in line with the exchange's policy of ending trading support for digital assets that fail to meet its listing requirements.
The ruling comes after BONK was designated as a 'trading caution' asset in early July 2026, and Upbit claims that it discovered unresolved problems with security incidents involving wallets or the underlying blockchain infrastructure. The exchange also criticized the project's handling of material disclosures, stating that crucial information was not conveyed in a timely and suitable manner.
According to Upbit, trading support for BONK will expire on September 7, 2026, at 15:00 KST, at which point all pending buy and sell orders will be automatically canceled. Users will still have 30 days to withdraw their BONK holdings until October 7, 2026.
The delisting decision highlights the stricter listing requirements imposed by South Korean exchanges in response to regulatory reforms aimed at increasing transparency and reducing risks for individual investors.
