Upbit Lists Six Altcoins in Bid for Institutional Hype
South Korea's dominant exchange Upbit has expanded its altcoin offerings by listing six new tokens, sparking interest among traders and investors. The tokens, which went live at 2:00 p.m. KST on August 10, include Cysic (CYS), Impossible Cloud Network (ICNT), Anoma (XAN), OpenEden (EDEN), AIOZ Network (AIOZ), and Allora Network (ALLO).
The selection of these tokens reflects Upbit's deliberate push into narratives that have been gaining institutional and developer mindshare. The mix of projects, which includes decentralized infrastructure and machine intelligence networks, is a departure from the typical clustering around a single trend.
The listing pairs for all six tokens are against both Bitcoin (BTC) and Tether (USDT), bypassing the local fiat on-ramp and tilting the liquidity setup toward global arbitrage traders and investors. This move indicates a quiet push to deepen Upbit's crypto-native market structure, but also raises regulatory risks due to South Korea's strict approach to token oversight.
