Uphold Sees Blockchain Transition in Traditional Banking
Nancy Beaton, President of the US for digital asset platform Uphold, believes traditional banking is transitioning to blockchain infrastructure. She says partnerships between companies like Ripple and Uphold are crucial in carrying the financial system towards this new direction.
Uphold has evolved from a retail wallet that allows users to buy, sell, hold, trade, and earn on digital assets, into an API-enabled platform built for enterprise and institutional clients. This shift enables banks and financial institutions to plug directly into Uphold's infrastructure, offering digital asset services to their customers without building the technology themselves.
Beaton emphasized that blockchain adoption is primarily about operational efficiency rather than speculation. She highlighted the significant reduction in costs and time associated with international money transfers through blockchain. 'You are spending 10% to send money overseas. Today, that is not the case,' she said. 'You can send money overseas for pennies.'
Beaton believes XRP's early positioning gives it a structural advantage in guiding this transition towards a more efficient and streamlined financial system.
