US and UK Join Forces to Take Down Crypto Scam Hubs

Share

The US and UK have formed an alliance to combat crypto-related and cyber-enabled investment fraud. The joint law-enforcement effort aims to dismantle 'scam centers' that fuel these types of crimes, which often involve moving victims' funds across borders.

The agreement was announced by the US Department of Justice (DOJ), which says it will enable the two countries to coordinate investigations and share intelligence on organized crime groups. The DOJ also notes that overlapping cases have already been identified, with plans for an in-person disruption operation in London in early October.

This new cooperation comes as reported US losses tied to crypto investment fraud continue to rise, with data indicating a 89% increase in 2025 to $8.65 billion, up from $4.57 billion in 2023.
