US and UK Launch Joint Effort to Disrupt Crypto Scam Hubs

Share

The US Department of Justice and UK authorities have launched a joint effort to tackle crypto scam hubs. The initiative, which involves parallel investigations and intelligence sharing, aims to disrupt organized crime groups that operate across borders.

The DOJ reported a significant increase in losses from crypto investment fraud in the US, with $8.65 billion lost in 2025 compared to $4.57 billion in 2023. The joint effort builds on the US Scam Center Strike Force, which targets Chinese organized crime networks operating primarily in Southeast Asia.

The agreement includes a memorandum of understanding between the US Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia and the UK's Crown Prosecution Service for England and Wales. The agencies plan to identify shared targets, align investigative work, and determine which jurisdictions should prosecute specific cases.
