US and UK Unite Against Global Crypto Scam Centers
The US and UK are forming a new alliance to combat global crypto scams and investment fraud centers. According to officials, these scam centers have been costing Americans an estimated $10 billion each year.
The Department of Justice announced that the two countries will join forces to crack down on international scam centers accused of defrauding Americans through cryptocurrency and cyber-enabled investment schemes. The US Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia, the Crown Prosecution Service of England and Wales, and the UK's National Crime Agency are working together under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Scam Center Strike Force and its British counterparts.
US Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro stated that 'The United Kingdom is one of our oldest allies and partners. We’ve stood side by side to bring down global threats in multiple wars, and today we commit to stand together in the war on transnational organized crime.'
