US Bank's Stablecoin Clears Cross-Border Payment in Seconds
U.S. Bancorp has successfully completed a live cross-border payment using its proprietary stablecoin, USBDC, on the Stellar network.
The test transaction routed funds from North America to Europe and demonstrated the bank's ability to accelerate global cash management and money movement capabilities.
The pilot tested several functions of the token contract, including minting, redeeming, freezing, and clawing back tokens. The entire process was tracked on Stellar's public ledger.
U.S. Bank has been working on its digital-asset stack for over a year, starting with custodying reserves for Anchorage Digital Bank's payment stablecoins in October 2025. It has since partnered with the Stellar Development Foundation and PwC on custom stablecoin issuance experiments.
