US Bitcoin Reserve Bill Scheduled for Markup Session
The US Bitcoin Reserve Bill, also known as H.R. 8957, is set to reach the House Financial Services Committee on September 16 for a markup session.
The bill would establish a statutory Strategic Bitcoin Reserve within the Treasury Department and require it to maintain a Bitcoin reserve for at least 20 years without selling or disposing of the holdings.
Rep. Nick Begich introduced the bill, which is co-led by Rep. Jared Golden, in May with the aim of bringing federal digital asset holdings under a clearer statutory framework.
