US Cracks Down on Hamas Crypto Fundraising Network
The US Department of Justice has dismantled an alleged Hamas network dedicated to fundraising and recruitment. The operation resulted in the seizure of nearly half a million euros in cryptocurrencies intended for the Palestinian militia.
According to investigations, Hamas operated this network on behalf of its military wing, the Al Qassam Brigades. The US Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, emphasized that 'we will stop your fundraising for terrorism.'
The Department of Justice claims that Hamas relied on cryptocurrencies and online platforms to solicit funds from donors worldwide and move money outside the formal financial system.
