The US Bitcoin Reserve Bill, also known as H.R. 8957 or ARMA, is set to face its first committee vote on September 16, 2026.

The bill aims to create a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve by consolidating and expanding the government's existing Bitcoin holdings, currently around 328,372 BTC, which were seized in various criminal cases.

The reserve would be mandatorily locked up for at least 20 years, with sales allowed only to reduce national debt, currently above $39 trillion.

The bill also includes a provision to revalue the government's gold certificates, which could generate a significant paper gain and fund Bitcoin purchases without increasing the deficit.
