US DOJ Seizes $560K in Cryptocurrency Allegedly Bound for Hamas
The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has seized over $560,000 in cryptocurrency that it alleges was bound for Hamas. The seizure is part of a larger effort to disrupt Hamas' fundraising and recruitment efforts online.
According to the DOJ, the funds were seized through court-authorized warrants issued in March, June, and October 2025. The FBI took control of cryptocurrency from addresses promoted through an encrypted group chat and a fundraising website.
The DOJ stated that it has also obtained the names and identities of thousands of individuals who attempted to donate to Hamas. This information will be used in future counterterrorism work, according to the department.
