US Envoy Earns Over $100M from Cryptocurrency Venture Amid Conflict-of-Interest Scrutiny
Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump's special envoy for Middle East and Ukraine negotiations, has reported significant income from his holding company, which includes a cryptocurrency venture. According to financial filings, Witkoff earned $107 million in 2025 through the holding company, with $34 million in income coming from the same company in 2024. The holding company owns various businesses, including World Liberty Financial, a crypto project launched with participation from the Trump family and the Witkoff family.
World Liberty Financial operates the USD1 stablecoin and its WLFI token, offering lending and borrowing services. However, it is unclear how much Witkoff earned specifically from this venture, as the filing does not separately list the value or income of individual assets held under the company.
The White House has stated that Witkoff sold his stake in World Liberty Financial and does not participate in government matters that could affect his financial interests. Trump also reported more than $594 million in income from World Liberty Financial last year, although he stepped away from company operations after entering public office.
