US Government Transfer Revives Fears Over Strategic Bitcoin Reserve
A small transfer of Bitcoin linked to assets seized from Alameda Research's Binance.US accounts has revived fears that Washington may be preparing to liquidate more of its forfeited Bitcoin stash.
The move came after a wallet tagged to the US government transferred a small amount of Bitcoin, worth around $53.6 million at current prices, into an account linked to Alameda Research's collapse.
This has sparked concerns that the US may be planning to sell off its strategic Bitcoin Reserve, which was established by President Donald Trump in March 2025 with the aim of turning qualifying forfeited BTC into a long-term Treasury asset.
The Strategic Bitcoin Reserve is specifically designed for BTC, while other digital assets fall under a separate category, known as the US Digital Asset Stockpile.
