US Government Transfers Small Amount of Seized Bitcoin

The US government has transferred a small amount of Bitcoin seized from Alameda Research's Binance.US accounts three years ago. According to Arkham Intelligence, the transfer was reported on August 26, but it is unclear whether the government sold the assets or simply moved them between wallets.

The transfer does not confirm a sale, as moving Bitcoin between addresses can involve custody, accounting, or security management. Federal agencies have used Coinbase Prime to store and manage seized digital assets in the past, which could be the case here.

Alameda Research was associated with FTX before the exchange collapsed in November 2022. Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of FTX, misappropriated billions of dollars deposited by customers and gave Alameda access to the funds.
