US Government Transfers Small Amount of Seized Bitcoin
The US government has transferred a small amount of Bitcoin seized from Alameda Research's Binance.US accounts three years ago, reigniting questions about how federal agencies will handle the remaining assets.
According to Arkham Intelligence, the blockchain analytics firm that reported the transaction, the Bitcoin transfer does not confirm a sale. The destination is crucial, as federal agencies have used Coinbase Prime to store and manage seized digital assets in the past.
The recent transfer is part of a larger pattern of government-controlled wallets processing seized assets tied to Alameda and FTX during 2026. In May, Arkham reported that the government moved approximately $1.89 million in Render, Uniswap, The Sandbox, Mask Network, and Axie Infinity tokens to Coinbase Prime.
The transfer does not necessarily mean the Bitcoin has been sold. A transfer to another government wallet may involve custody, accounting, or security management, while movement to an exchange can make a future sale possible without proving one occurred.
