US-Iran Conflict Triggers $400M Crypto Liquidation Wave, Bitcoin Holds Ground
The recent military clashes between the US and Iran sent shockwaves through global markets, leading to a wave of leveraged liquidations in the cryptocurrency space. Bitcoin fell below $77,000 before recovering to around $78,000, while over $400 million in crypto positions were liquidated over 24 hours.
The selloff was largely driven by long traders who held heavily leveraged positions, with more than 100,000 accounts reportedly affected. The sudden loss of value highlights the volatility that publicly traded assets face.
However, Bitcoin's ability to recover towards $78,000 provides a constructive signal after the initial shock. Despite the recent geopolitical pressure, BTC remains up over 24% in August and is on track for its strongest monthly performance since November 2024.
In contrast, AlphaPepe (ALPE) remains outside of this market turbulence, with its presale price remaining fixed at $0.02845. The project has raised over $2.55 million and attracted more than 11,400 holders ahead of its Q1 2027 DEX launch.
