Changpeng Zhao, co-founder of Binance, spoke at the 2026 Wyoming Blockchain Symposium in the US. He stated that if Hyperliquid were to be recognized by the US government as a global decentralized exchange, it would significantly expand the decentralized finance industry.

Zhao's comments came after President Donald Trump announced that Michael Cellik, a commissioner at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), was working on bringing Hyperliquid into the US market.

The Binance co-founder believes that US legalization of Hyperliquid would enable more decentralized services to enter the country, not just perpetual futures. He also emphasized that this recognition would have a positive effect on the broader crypto industry.

Zhao clarified his stance by stating that while he holds a stake in Binance, which is often seen as a centralized exchange, his initial reason for entering the crypto market was due to his belief in decentralization.
