US Regulatory Pressure Drives Crypto Founders Overseas
The cryptocurrency industry has been affected by US regulatory uncertainty, which has led to some founders moving their businesses overseas. According to Hayden Adams, founder of Uniswap, this uncertainty has given foreign competitors an opportunity to grow faster. The issue was discussed at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's Innovation Advisory Committee meeting on August 20.
Adams stated that 'regulatory pressure in the US pushed founders overseas,' while foreign competitors were able to build their businesses more quickly. This sentiment was shared during a discussion on overlapping jurisdiction among regulators and an enforcement-driven approach to regulation.
The CFTC's Innovation Advisory Committee meeting also focused on crypto regulation, artificial intelligence, and prediction markets. The panel explored ways future congressional legislation and the CFTC's regulatory actions could complement each other.
